It is important to make sure you are building confidence in children so that they will grow up and be strong. Confidence is not something that always comes naturally, so we have to work at building confidence in children.
There are many things that you can do in regards to building confidence in children.
1. Let your kids know you are proud of them. Make sure to tell them directly, and make sure they hear you tell others. This helps with building confidence in children as it makes him good. Encourage them and their skills. If you have to give a negative comment, balance it out with something positive.
2. Don’t label children. While you may not use these labels around your child, others may hear it and pass it on to them, which will affect your ability of building confidence in children.
3. Call them by name, as it makes them feel important and valued. This helps with building confidence in children as they knew who they are, and gives them confidence to call others by name and ask them for help.
4. Be positive around your child. How they feel about themselves has a large basis in how they feel you feel about them. As a step of building confidence in children they need to know you value them for who they are, not because of what they can do.
5. Building confidence in children can be accomplished by giving them responsibility such as household chores. It gives them skills, but they also get a feeling of worth by getting this done. Depending on what chores you give them, this can also be a great way to get in some bonding time.
6. Create routines. By having a routine, your child has security and is more willing to venture out as he knows that life will be secure when he gets back home. It also helps them to know what is expected and when.
7. Have rules and consequences for their actions. While many parents feel that giving rules may cause their child to dislike them, in reality, rules and consequences show a child that their parent cares enough about them to make sure they stay safe. This helps when building confidence in children as knowing they are loved makes a huge difference in development.
8. Another great way of building confidence in children is playing with them. This shows them that their parent enjoys spending time to them, and that they are important. Let them dictate how play time goes.
9. Listen to your child with all your attention. You can accomplish this by getting down to their level and listening to them completely. This lets them know that what they have to say is important, which in turn helps to build confidence in children.
